Happy Women’s History Month! Did you know that only 17% of cannabis companies are majority women-owned? As many ladies know, it can be difficult to break the glass ceiling in any industry. Today, we want to take some time to share our favorite IL-based women-owned brands and cannabis organizations.
Bedford Grow
Founded in 2014 by Laurel Dineff, Bedford Grow is a triple threat in the field of cannabis equity. As the only IL cultivator that is female-, family-, and locally-owned, Bedford Grow produces premium products for both medical and recreational usage. In addition to helping break the glass ceiling in the industry, the name ‘Bedford’ Grow has quickly become synonymous with high-quality flower. If you want to learn more about Bedford Grow (and try some of their products), check out the Budrista Club’s upcoming Illinois Brand Showcase in collaboration with Seed Talent on March 13th!
Community
If you haven’t noticed yet, we love Community Cannabis over at Bud & Rita’s! J.T. Stinnette, co-CEO and license-holder of Community, joined forces with colleagues of hers to create this amazing Chicago-based brand. With JT’s business-oriented background, Community has grown from a small mushroom farm to a whole world of its own. In addition to being Women-owned, Community Cannabis highlights BIPOC-owned agriculture and local cultivators in Illinois. Shop Community Cannabis HERE!
Margo Mints
An advocate of a California-sober lifestyle, country singer Margo Price collaborated with NGW to create a one-of-a-kind subtle microdosing product. Margo, who’s been referred to as ‘country’s next star,’ has collaborated with some amazing musicians and is on the board of directors for Farm Aid. In addition to her twangy tunes, Margo offers the perfect pick-me-up for anyone looking to get into the world of cannabis with Margo Mints.
Illinois Women in Cannabis (IWC)
Illinois Women in Cannabis (IWC) is a fantastic organization that strives to break the glass ceiling in the cannabis industry. As a sphere of networking, IWC has members whose work ranges from marketing and law to horticulture and patient care. Executive Director Asya Hill has taken the organization in a new direction with her work in engaging community stakeholders in the industry while also uplifting those who are working their way into the world of cannabis. Learn more about IWC at the Budrista Club’s next two women-centered Illinois Brand Showcases March 13th and March 27th!
